VINCENT RUSSO

Boa c. constrictor

It’s no wonder that these boas were scientificallly named Boa constrictor constrictor as they represents the epitome of the Red Tailed Boa race. Boa c. constrictor is commonly known as “True Red Tailed “boas. These boas are known geographically from the Amazon Basin of South America and inhabit the East side of the Andes Mountains from Peru, Ecuador, Southern Colombia, Southern Venezuela, Guyana, Surinam, French Guiana and Brazil. They also inhabit the islands of Trinidad & Tobago and a few Islands off the North East Coast of South America. I have kept & bred a few localities of Boa c. constrictor and am currently working with Bcc from Venezuela - Brazil -Surinam & Peru.

North Brazilian Red Tailed Boas ( Boa c. constrictor )
North Brazilian Red Tailed Boas

Boas with provenance to Brazil are quite rare in captivity today. This is due to the fact that the export of Boas from Brazil has been a rare occurrence in the past and Brazil has been shut down to export of CITES animals since the late eighties. The Boas I have here originated from my friend Eugene Bessette of Ophiological Services. He purchased his adults in the late eighties which had provenance to North Brazil & entered the U.S. under CITES in the early eighties. They are unique Red tailed Boas with a beautiful yellow back ground color as adults. They also do not get very large & my average adult size is atound 6 feet. A very under rated boa because they take a few years to get their beautiful adult colors.

Update 2010: I expect a few litters of North Brazilians in September.
