Suriname is a large country located on the North East Coast of South America. It is sandwiched between Guyana to its west & French Guiana to its East and Brazil to its South. The epitome of the True Red tailed boa and to some the Holy Grail of all boas, the Surinam boas has almost a cult like following amongst admires. The Surinam Boas that I have are direct imports from Surinam that arrived here in the U.S. back in 1995 under CITES. They are beautiful dark red tailed Boas with a dark chocolate brown back ground color & connected saddles. The head spears are quite prominent & they exhibit beautiful eye lash markings.

My Venezuelan Boas originated from one small group of Boa c. constrictor that entered the Country in the early 1990’s via an Aquarium fish wholesaler from Venezuela. My friend Gus Rentfro of Rio Bravo reptiles obtained this group of boas and was lucky enough to breed them a few years later. These boas are small for Boa c. constrictor standards and are mature & breed at around 5 feet in length and 5 years of age. They are heavier bodied than most Bcc at their size range and seem to be a smaller race of constrictor. They average 17-19 saddles snout to vent that are clearly connected. The overall background color & saddle color has a large range of difference, even within a single litter of these boas. They range from dark brown saddled boas with a charcoal gay background color to a brown saddle with beige background color. The saddles have dots & dashes between them (similar to Brazilian Bcc) and the tails are Blood red as hatchlings and stay red to burnt orange in adults.
