The Tri colored Hognose snake Lystrophis pulcher is quite rare in captivity. This is due to the fact that they are indigenous to Bolivia and rarely are exported to the U.S. Therefore we must rely on captive breeding to keep this rare & unusual hognose alive in the Pet Trade. These are very easy to keep and eat rodents with no problems. They breed very easily too and do not get large. My adults are barely 20 inches. They lay eggs often ( as many as 5 clutches a season ) and the gestation is quite long for a colubrid at over 80 days. I have only a few available for 05 but plan on having more in 06. Another name given to these creatures is " False Coral snake ".
