I purchased a young wild caught " Jungle " looking female Ball in 96 and bred it in 99. The snake was bred to a het albino. All 5 of her offsping came out as carbon copies of the mother ( Jungle Type ). Proving this to be a genetic trait, a dominant one. In 2000 I produced 6 more beauties. They are very Yellow and stay very Yellow even as Adults. So in 2001 I bred one of the 99 males back to the mother and the results of this breeding produced 7 even more spectacular Yellow & Black Balls. They are similar to what people call " Jungle " balls. The term Jungle Ball derived from Snake Trappers in Africa that beleived that the more Yellow & oddly patterned balls came from the Jungle instead of the savannah grass lands that were the more favorible hunting grounds. So instead of using the abused name of " Jungle " I have named these Balls " Congo Jungle Ball Pythons " It doesnt mean that they came from the Congo, but just that they are a unique looking Dominant Trait Ball Python that retains its light juvenile colors. Imagine what an Albino, Pied or Pastel ball would look if you added this trait. Also, all of these guys are possibly het for Albino ( from the first breeding to a het in 99 ). The Original female Congo is Homozygous for the Dominant trait. Based on a punett square all the F-1 offspring will be Dominant, het for normal. Im hoping that by breeding two F-1 babies, I will eventually produce a Super Congo. More breeding is necessary.

UPDATE:  This 2003 Season I produced the Best Congos ever by breeding Congos to hand selected normal Females. I also bred a Congo Female to Pastel Jungle. The Results are Un Ball eivable. The dirtiness of the normal Pastel was WASHED away by the Congo trait. This is the perfect trait to clean up any dark & dingy Ball projects.  Photos of Congo Pastel are below.
