BALL PYTHON MORPHS

Ball Pythons ( Python Regius ) make great pets and its no wonder why they are the number 1 pet snake in the industry. Their small adult size compared to other pythons makes them one of the easiest boids to keep and thrive in captivity. Balls also come in all shapes & sizes when it comes to colors & patterns. All of the Balls that I produce each year are well started on Rat Pups or mice produced by my own Rodent Colony.  Email me for Details as to what may be available.

BALL PYTHON
Cinnamon Pastel Balls

Cinnamon Pastel Ball pythons were first produced by Greg Graziani back in 2002 from a wild caught male he picked from a shipment of fresh hatched imports in 1997. This trait wotrks similarly to the Black Pastel as both traits have a super form that is a sold brown to black ball with no pattern, Greg also bred his Cinnamon Pastel to a Pastel Jungle and made the first Pewters. This trait is a incomplete dominant trait and a great ingredient to work with. I bred this Cinnamon line into my Leucistics and produced some beautifull Cinnamon het Leucistics & a Cinnamon Leucistic in 08. I truly think that the possibilities are endless with all of these outrageous traits.

Update July 09 - I have some Cinnamon Pastels & Cinnamons Het Leucistic too.

BALL PYTHONS
Caramel Balls

I have been producing Caramels for a few years now & I think I have figured them out. There appears to be two Caramels forms out there. One has a Root Beer type of color & this one seems to be the older or original trait first produced by Kevin McKurley at Nerd back in 1996. The other type is more Orange and was originally produced by Mark Bell back in the late nineties. I was fortunate enough to get a male Heterozygous for Caramel from the Mark Bell line back in 2001. But the male I have was produced by Mark Bell when he bred an original line ( Root Beer colored ) Caramel male to a Het ( Orange Line ) female. Making the male definate het for one line & pos het for the other. Well I bred my Poss double het to a few normal females & kept all the female offspring back in 2002. I then bred the Poss double het male back to these daughters starting in 2005 and produced both types of Caramels from these daughters & a New third type. I am quite sure now that the third type is a double homozygous Caramel. I am calling this double homozygous Caramel by the name of a Camarillo. This name is a combination of Caramel and Amarillo ( which means Yellow in Spanish ).

Update 09: I have a few Caramels poss het Ultra. These can potentialy make the Camarillo>

BALL PYTHONS
Black Granite Ball

This Black Granite Ball is quite Unique and I found him in a shipment of wild caught Balls in 2003. He is very Black and has a very dark Granite pattern on the sides with a vertebral stripe down the Back. I hopefully will breed this male to a few normals in 2007 to see what his Genetic capabilities are.

Update July 2007: My Black Granite male bred a few normals & has proven to be a dominant trait so far. These babies appear to be identical to what some breeders are calling "Granite". These are very similar to their dad & have the vertebral blotches lining up to a partial stripe. They also have a funky pattern on their heads & are quite dark ( the father darkened with age - hence the name "  Black Granite " ). I have a strong feeling that their could be a super form making this trait incomplete Dominant ( or Co Dominant ). I also feel that this trait when combined with others could make some new & exciting stuff. I will be selling a single pair this 07 season. Email me for details.

More Updates 8/07 : A few breeders have bred Granite to Granite & have produced a Super Form of Granite. I think this trailt will be a great ingredient to add to other traits in the future.

BALL PYTHONS
Yellow Ghost

The Ghost Ball is a Hypomelanistic ( Reduced Black ) Ball Python. The Ghosts I have here originated from a wild caught male Ghost that exhibited a very Yellow background color. This trait is a recessive one and I expect to be selling Hets from this bloodline in 07. I also will be mixing this bloodline with a few of my Pastels & Congo Pastels.

Bumble Bee Ball

BALL PYTHONS
BumbleBee Ball Python

The Bumblebee Ball is a very beautifull double homozygous Ball Python. They were first created by Kevin McKurley of NERD and are the result of breeding a Spider Ball to a Pastel Ball. In reality they are simply an animal that exhibits two traits at one time ( a man made wonder ). The great thing about Bumblebees is that since they are two dominant traits in one - you can make Bumblebees simply by breeding a Bumblebee to a normal. Your chances ( based on a punnett square ) are as follows: Out of a four egg clutch you theoretically should produce 1 Bumblebee - 1 Spider - 1 Pastel & 1 normal. Making the bumblebee a valuable assett to any Ball Python collection.

Update July 09- Baby Bumblebees are born & ready to go.

Leucistic Ball

Ball Pythons ( Python Regius )
Blue Eyed Leucistic Ball Python - White Diamonds

In the 2002 Breeding Season I was very Fortunate enough to hatch a Blue Eyed Leucistic Ball Python "White Diamond" from 2 of my "High Yellow Lemon" Ball Pythons. The High Yellow Lemons are a Incomplete Dominant trait and when bred together produce Proven Genetic Leucistic Ball Pythons. Since the name "Lemon Ball" is a little confusing ( and since there are a few white snake producing Ball Pythons out there ) I decided to simply call these yellow colored Ball pythons "Russo Line Het Leucistics".  When you breed a "Russo Line Het Leucistic"  to a normal Ball Python you will get half a clutch of visible Het Lemon yellow colored Ball Pythons or Russo Line hets ( Proven here in 1998 ).  These Hets are beautifull in their own right and are very distinguishable from their normal littermates. The Leucistics that these produce have deep Blue eyes that almost look through you and a pure white color over the entire snake - these are named "White Diamonds".

Update 2005: At Daytona 2004 I entered into a breeding agreement with Greg & Jacki Graziani of Graziani Reptiles. I offered them one of my yearling Het Leucistic males to breed to one of their 18 month old Mojave females. Seeing that the Mojave to Lesser Platinum produced a Blue Eyed Leucistic we were sure that my Russo line Het Leucistic to Mojave would also produce Blue Eyed Leucistics. Not only were Greg & Jacki lucky enough to get the 18 month old Mojave to produce but she laid 7 eggs and produced 2 Blue Eyed Leucistics.

Ball Pythons
Albino Ball Pythons

I started out the hard way with Albino Balls by purchasing Het Albino males in 1996 & 1997 from Brian Sharp. I succesfully bred these males in the 98-99 season and produced a few clutches of 50% possible het Albino balls. I held back all the females and luckily 2 bred at 2.5 years of age and both produced Albinos ( proving them to be hets ). A few Albino males were a beautiful High Contrast animal. I will be breeding my High Contrast Albino males and my normal Albino males to many Het albino females in the up coming breeding seasons. I will also have hets available too. I beleive these Albinos are the best investment in the Business.

Update Sept 09: a few High Contrast Albinos are ready to go.

2003 PIED

BALL PYTHON
Piebald Ball Pythons

Proven Genetic by Pete Kahl of PK Reptiles, These Balls speak for them selves. I was fortunate enough to obtain some Hets in 98 from Pete. From those 98 founder Hets I have produced many Pieds, hets and Poss hets to create a beautiful breeding colony. These Balls are highly variable and are born with varied amounts of White. I think we have seen just the tip if the iceburg with this morph because it is just now (2005) that this trait has been mixed with other traits. I am currently working on producing Pastel Pieds & Albino Pieds.

UPDATE June 2008:  I crossed the pieds into my Leucistic line & created a new Pied called the "Pinto Pied ". It is a Pied het Leucistic. Image of thenew PINTO PIED

Update 2010: Pieds will start hatching in July. If all goes well I may have some Pinto Pieds for sale.

Pastel Congo Jungle Ball

Ball Pythons
Pastel Congo Jungle Ball

I purchased a young wild caught " Jungle " looking female Ball in 96 and bred it in 99. The snake was bred to a het albino. All 5 of her offsping came out as carbon copies of the mother ( Jungle Type ). Proving this to be a genetic trait, a dominant one. In 2000 I produced 6 more beauties. They are very Yellow and stay very Yellow even as Adults. So in 2001 I bred one of the 99 males back to the mother and the results of this breeding produced 7 even more spectacular Yellow & Black Balls. They are similar to what people call " Jungle " balls. The term Jungle Ball derived from Snake Trappers in Africa that beleived that the more Yellow & oddly patterned balls came from the Jungle instead of the savannah grass lands that were the more favorible hunting grounds. So instead of using the abused name of " Jungle " I have named these Balls " Congo Jungle Ball Pythons " It doesnt mean that they came from the Congo, but just that they are a unique looking Dominant Trait Ball Python that retains its light juvenile colors. Imagine what an Albino, Pied or Pastel ball would look if you added this trait. Also, all of these guys are possibly het for Albino ( from the first breeding to a het in 99 ). The Original female Congo is Homozygous for the Dominant trait. Based on a punett square all the F-1 offspring will be Dominant, het for normal. Im hoping that by breeding two F-1 babies, I will eventually produce a Super Congo. More breeding is necessary.

UPDATE:  This 2003 Season I produced the Best Congos ever by breeding Congos to hand selected normal Females. I also bred a Congo Female to Pastel Jungle. The Results are Un Ball eivable. The dirtiness of the normal Pastel was WASHED away by the Congo trait. This is the perfect trait to clean up any dark & dingy Ball projects.  Photos of Congo Pastel are below.

Update 2009: A few Really nice Congo Pastels are ready to go.

Halloween Ball

Ball Python
Halloween Ball Python

These balls popped up in my Poss het Jet Black Breedings. I bred my het Jet Black male to a normal and she produced 1 Halloween ball in 2001. I bred the same female to the het Jet black male again in 2002 and got 3 Halloween Balls ! These balls are very unique. They have Orange sides with jet black Pattern and a yellow vertebral striped pattern down the back. They stay Orange as adults. I am assuming that this trait is recessive because I produced 3 from the normall looking adults.

Update 2009: I bred a Spider het Pumpkin to a Pumpkin & have a few Pumpkins & Spider Pumpkins ready to go.
