Boa Morphs

I am working with alot of Boa constrictor morphs and have been selectively breeding multiple "F" generations to create the best of the best.

Boa c. imperator
Orangetail Super Hypo Boas

The Orangetail Hypo line was started back in the early nineties by Jeff Gee. He started with Hypo Boas that originated from Panama & bred them to each other for multiple generations to produce as clear & clean a boa as possible ( little to no black speckling ). I have continued that practice & I am currently up to 5 generations of selective breeding to produce the best & most beautifull examples of these wonderfull boas. I have bred my best pairs to each other to create F5 Offspring with some wonderfull results. These Super Hypo Orangetails are a deep red / orange with little to no speckles. Since they are pure Central American Boas - they also stay quite small & breed at a small size too.

Update 2011: I produced a beautifull litter of F5 Super Hypo Orangetail. See pics below of youngsters from previous breedings of the same pair.

Boa c. imperator
Blood Albino ( Red Dragons )

In 2007 I bred a Kahl strain Albino Boa ( mother to all my previous Coral Albino litters ) to a Blood Boa male. That breeding resulted in a litter of 100 % het for Albino & Blood ( double Hets ). I held back a few pairs & was fortunate enough to have a pair of these double hets breed in 2010. The result of this breeding was outstanding and it produced the first ever Kahl strain Albino Blood Boa. I decided to call this Red Boa the " Red Dragon " . I chose this name because it's commonly used in Asia. First because of the color Red which is the traditional colour for wealth, prosperity and good luck.
Secondly - the Dragon is a mythical creature, respected for its ability to change the world. In this case - Im hoping that this "Red Dragon" Bloody Albino Boa can change the "Boa" world & open the eyes of the industry to realize the potential in these beautiful mystical ( and Mythical ) creatures.

Boa c. imperator
Albino Leopard Boas

In 2005 my good friend Tom Burke bred a beautiful Coral Red Albino Boa to a Leopard Boa female & produced the first ever double hets for Albino & Leopard. I was fortunate enough to purchase a pair from Tom & Mine ( and his ) bred in 2008. Both Tom & I were again fortunate enough to produce the first ever " Albino Leopard Boas ". These boas are outrageous with unbeleivable colors. I think the pictures speak for themselves. I will be selling a few of the normal Poss double hets from my Double het Breeding & maybe a leopard poss het Albino.

Update 2011: I had a great litter from my an 08 Albino Leopard bred to a big Double Het Albino Leopard. So I have some Albino Leopards - leopards Het Albino - Albinos Het Leopard and a few Double Hets for Albino & Leopards. What a great litter.

Boa c. imperator
RED Pastel

In 2003 I picked up a negelected Pet Boa from a Pet Shop. It was in tough shape but had a nice red color to it. So I nursed it back to health & the first time it shed I could not beleive the color of this Boa. It is RED all over. I bred this boa ( a female ) to a Salmon Hypo male in 2005 & the results were phenominal. The Red carried over in a at least half the offspring ( both Hypos & Normals ). They started out with a pink background color & by a year or so of age the Red kicked it. I beleive this trait is simply dominant ( like most Pastels ) and makes a great ingredient to add to other morphs.  I also bred this line into my Kubsch Pastels with excellent results.

Update 2011: I bred a pair of Salmon Red Pastels to each other. Fingers crossed for a great litter. Who know what these will look like. Mom is pictured below.

Update 2011; If all goes well I expect a litter of Salmom Red Pastels in late August

Boa c. imperator
Kubsch Pastel

The Kubsch Pastel Boas (Pronounced Coops) originated in Germany by a man named Sylvio Kubsch. These beautifully colored Colombian Boas originated from a pair of pure Colombian boas that were related to each other. Most of the litter were these amazing looking Pastel Boas and were spread thru out a small number of breeders in Europe. These boas like all the other Pastel lines act like a dominant trait in that when bred to unrelated animals produce some Pastel like offspring. I think that these strong colored genes simply over ride the dull natural colors & hence more Pastel like boas are produced. However, The Kubsh Pastel gene has proven to be quite potent and some of the most Orange & red Pastels have been created by these Boas. The saddles on these boas are dark brown with a lot orange highlights. They have almost perfect circles down their backs and the sides are blazing orange and the head is an orange/red. The tails are a crimson red with orange highlights. One bi product of certain breeding of these boas in Germany is another trait called “Square Tailed Boa”.

Update 2010: I bred my best Kubsch Pastel female to my Best Orange Tail Super Hypo. If all goes well I may have a litter in August.

Boa c. imperator
Leopard Boas

The first Leopard Boas popped up in a litter of what was thought to be normal appearing Sonora Desert Boas. These boas were in the collection of Hans Winner of Germany. Hans proved that this Pattern anomaly Boa was an inheritable recessive trait by line breeding the leopard Boas back to siblings and parents. The leopard pattern is similar to that of a labyrinth Burmese python in that is has some stripes and dashes along its dorsal area. The dorsal blotches are broken up into stripes that fade down the marbled patterned sides. The tail is also aberrant with its blotches that are broken up by dashes and dots. The tail starts out red to rust but eventually turns darker with age as does the overall background color. They have a unique feature in that some possess a gold head and some have a red chin. They also have beautifully marked faces that resemble the whiskers of a leopard & some Leopards are completely striped. Even the normal gene carriers or Het for Leopard boa have a unique appearence ( see pic below ). The Leopard Boa is also a very small boa and Hans reports mature breeding females to be just around 5 feet in length. I personally have two females that are barely 4 feet and have succesfully bred at 3.5 years of age.

Update July 2011 : I love Leopards - Albino Leopards - Albino Het Leopards - Leopard Het Albino & Double hets were born .

Update July 2011: I bred a Super Salmon to a Leopard & made a beautiful litter of Cherry Bombs ( Salmon Het Leopard ).

Albino Boas

These original strain Albino Boas are awsome. The first time I saw one , I had to have them. A light pink, pastel yellow & pearl white boa. As the price comes down and these boas become more affordable, I dont think that we will be able to keep up with the demand for these White Boas. I poduce these gems by breeding unrelated Hets and Albinos to eachother, Insuring a diverse gene pool and strong Albino. These Hets have been producing some Super looking Albinos. Some are Coral phase ( pics below ).

Boa c. imperator
Salmon Hypo Boas

First produced by Richard Ihle of Arizona, this is one of the most beautiful Boas I have in my collection. Rich's original Salmon was a Panamaniam Boa that he bred to a Colombian Boa. The resulting litter produced the First Salmon Boas. Since half the first litter were Salmons it proved this trait to be Incomplete dominant. Incomplete dominant trait means = when bred to a normal Boa , half of the litter will be Salmon Hypos and the other half would be normals ( not heterozygous for Salmon ). Also when bred together ( Hypo to Hypo ) the result would be Half Salmon one quarter Super Salmon and a quarter normal. I have selectivley bred my Salmons for a few generations now and Im producing some OUTSTANDING Boas. My Salmons are getting very Orange and Red as Adults.

.

Update June 2011 :  This year I bred a few RED Hypo pairs & produced some OUTSTANDING Red Super Hypos.
